This year wasn't quite as fun at the fair for many reasons, which is sad because it was Eve's first time and I was really hoping it would be great for her!
Austin was a holy terror! He is taking the terrible two's to the extreme and was the main reason why we didn't have as much fun as we could have. He has to do EVERYTHING himself! He doesn't want anything unless it is HIS idea! Basically, it is his way or the highway. Of course that is ridiculous so he lost many battles and threw many tantrums. That left Mom and Dad wondering why we even bothered leaving the house for such a "fun" time. Especially after he spilled our 8 dollar Texas Twister drink we had waited forever in line for, resulting in Mom having to get back in line to beg for another one :(.
Eve, however, was her usual perfect self. She had fun taking it all in and she got her first pony ride! Oh my goodness she was cute! We paid for Austin to ride a pony too but he freaked out as soon as he got near the animal.....grrrrrr. So I buried my urge to beat Austin with a stick and focused on beautiful Eve as she happily rode her little pony!
| Ride 'em cowgirl!! |
| Waving "HI" to everyone :). |
| Petting her pony. |
| She had a great time! |
| Austin, however, did not.... |
| She is taking a couple steps now! It is so exciting!! |
| The one thing Austin DID enjoy was riding the tractor!! He put on his glasses and thought he was so cool! |
| All the yummy fair food..... so many choices! Too bad we really didn't get to enjoy it with Austin around :(. |
| Watching the three legged dogs do tricks like catching frisbees! |
| Dad and Trevor (Briana's boyfriend) hanging out while us girls shopped around the exhibit tent :). |
We only stayed for a couple hours because it started pouring rain, which was just fine with us because the kids needed a nap, pronto!
After nap time, Grandma watched the kids so Josh and I could go on a little dinner date. We tried out the new Mexican restaurant in Overton and soaked up the beautiful silence. Seriously, this day was one for the books!
Josh left the next day, but I stayed with the kids because I didn't have to go back to work for another couple of days. I was trying to give myself a "vacation" but that didn't work out so well for me. My parents are having marital problems (nothing new) so my Mom spent almost the entire time in bed while we hung out with Nathan. The fact that my Mom slept most of the week was again, nothing new. She slept through most of my childhood and adolescent years and I always hated her for it. Perhaps that's why no matter how tired I am or how many days I have gone without sleeping, I can't take a nap? Oh well, it allowed us to spend more quality time with Nathan than we have had in forever! :).
| Austin LOVES Grandpa's jeep. He talks about it all the time and the "BIG tires!!" He had fun taking a ride in it with the windows rolled down. |
| Grandpa treated us to ice cream! |
| Austin chose strawberry :) |
| We spent most of the trip playing out in the dirt and the rain made it especially fun! |
| Just ask Evie! |
| Everywhere the kids were, the dogs followed! Just imaine all the laundry I had to do after this trip! |
| Mom didn't get much sleep with both kids in my room, but just look at what I got to wake up to! I could just eat her up! |
| Eve found the doggy door..... She and Lily took turns going in and out over and over and over..... |
| We made a stop at Home Hardware to visit the baby chicks! They've really grown since we last saw them! |
| Austin was brave enough to hold it on his own this time! |
| He tried catching them but it didn't work out so well. |
| Lunch time! |
It was a tiring trip, but well worth it. Because along with all the irritating, exhausting moments came some REALLY beautiful memories!! :)
