Milestones: Evelyne is 2 Months Old!

Happy Two Month Birthday Baby Girl! I can't imagine life without you!

Oh Eve, you are still the perfect baby! You are so happy, content, and cuddly. The only time you get fussy is when you aren't being held.... that makes my life more difficult but I also love that time I get with you. You only wake up once at night, usually some time between 3-5am. I am so grateful for this! I was so worried about how I would survive dealing with you and your brother on zero sleep but you solved that problem for me and I didn't even have to sleep train you!

You are getting chubby and I love it! I love to squeeze you and nibble on that adorable double chin! You are getting kisses constantly, all throughout the day and you love it! You even kiss us back! At your 2 month well baby check you weighed in at 12.3 pounds! That means you have almost doubled your birth weight! You are now 22.25 inches long which puts you in the 50th percentile for both height and weight! They were so surprised by your major growth spurt that they decided to measure you twice just to make sure! When the doctor walked in and saw you she said, "Dear Lord, what is in your breastmilk?!" I laughed and told her you are just a good little eater :).

You were very dramatic when you got your shots. You didn't even notice the first one, but once they stuck you twice you definitely let us know what you thought about the situation! Your brother always cried for less than a minute and then forgot about it, but you wouldn't even stop crying long enough to nurse! I finally just put you in your car seat and walked out of the doctors office with you screaming at me. I guess that's the difference between boys and girls? However, you were done being sad once we got to the elevator and actually didn't even seem to notice the pain from there on out. That was also a difference between you and your brother. He was awnry and needy the rest of the day/night and you acted perfectly happy and even slept all throughout the night! You amaze me.

You are not a big fan of bath time. It is usually an experience we try to rush through for all of our sakes because you scream pretty loud!

You are learning how to smile and every time you try, I die from the cuteness! You usually start with a half smile and then you either give up, or suddenly give it your all and your entire face lights up with a big, open mouthed grin! This makes your double chin even more pronounced and delicious :).

You love playing with your tongue. You are constantly sticking it out and rolling it around. What would you have done if we hadn't realized you were born tongue tied?! Almost every single time you smile you have your adorable little tongue sticking out :). It's the cutest thing ever! 

Dad is great at getting you to fall asleep! You melt like butter in his arms. However, you usually force us to put you to sleep three times before you stay asleep for good at night. Always three times, it's the strangest thing! Sometimes we have to give you gripe water because it seems like it is your tummy that keeps you from falling asleep. That usually works like a charm.

You did really good when Mom went back to work! Much better than your brother did when he was your age. You take a bottle without problems and have allowed Grandma Porter to babysit you without complaints. Again, thank you for that!

Your hair just keeps getting longer and thicker. I am in love with everything about you, but your black hair is one of my favorites! Whenever you take a bath, I blow dry it out and it sticks out all over your head, all fluffy and soft like a bunny rabbit!

Happy Father's Day Josh!

 Josh is a fantastic Dad. The kids both love him and he struggles to give them both attention because Austin gets particularly jealous when it comes to his Daddy. Josh works so hard to provide us with a happy life where we want for nothing and usually does it with a good attitude. I wanted him to have a wonderful Father's Day because he deserves it so much!

That morning I woke up before he did (thanks to Eve) and went to Starbucks to surprise him with his favorite drink, a white hot chocolate. Then he decided to go to the gym for his special "me time." When he came back I had raspberry waffles with Nutella, bananas, and strawberries prepared for breakfast! It was very yummy and even the leftovers were gone before the day ended. Austin then brought over a bag of gifts for Daddy and enthusiastically helped him open it. We had bought him movies, kettle corn, and Dove chocolate so he could spend the entire day watching movies and vegging out like he requested :). That's another great thing about Josh, he's easy to please! For lunch he asked for Kentucky Fried Chicken and I was more than happy to oblige since it meant I didn't have to cook ;). We had a great day helping Dad eat all his popcorn and lounging around as a family watching movies. It was a great day for all of us! We have been so busy lately with life and extended family that we haven't had much time to be just the four of us.

Happy Father's Day Josh! Thank you for all you do for us! We would be lost without you.

Milestones: 23 Months Old

I wish I could keep you short, wild haired, and crazy forever, but I am also loving the sweet, helpful, polite little boy you are becoming! (well, when you feel like it that is....)

It's your last month of babyhood little man and then you are officially two years old! A full blown toddler! At this stage of life, you have become so bipolar! You are either laughing and being so cute, or you are crying/screaming and throwing huge fits over the dumbest things. Each month just seems to get harder and harder with your need for independence and your extreme stubborn side, but it also has been getting easier and easier with your excitement to learn, be helpful, and with how easy it is becoming to communicate with you! You mimic our every word and are understanding more than we realize.....

You have become much easier to take shopping because you know if you are good we will stop at the bakery section and ask for a cookie, or Mom will buy you some other treat if there isn't a nice, generous baker available.

You want to help us do everything. That includes bathing the baby, feeding the baby, changing her diapers, vacuuming/sweeping, doing dishes, baking, throwing dirty diapers into the diaper pail, and occasionally you will feel in the mood to clean up your toys....

You love when Mom pumps milk for the baby because it is mechanical and you are our little engineer! You know how to set the whole pump up for me! It's just as amazing as it is slightly disturbing.... In the beginning I tried hiding that side of life from you but it quickly became way too difficult. I figure you are too young to make something dirty out of it anyway. Today I watched you put two doll bottles up to your chest, wait a couple seconds, and then you went to the couch where your baby doll was waiting and fed him with those same bottles! Like I said, you mimic EVERYTHING!

Your relationship with your Daddy just grows stronger by the day. You get so excited when he comes home from work and the two of you head upstairs so Dad can change out of his suit and you can play in our room (usually with all the things you shouldn't play with). Your favorite thing to do with Daddy is when he stands and bench presses you up in the air so you can touch the ceiling. You get so excited to "touch 'a lights" and giggle like crazy! It feels to me like you choose Mom to show your crazy/bratty side to and are much nicer to Dad. Maybe that's because I'm around you more?

You seem to have adjusted to the baby now but you still occasionally try to hurt her. I had to move her car seat to the other side of the car the other day because you hurt her and since I was driving, there was nothing I could do about it. Your favorite is to bite her, pinch her, pull her hair, or bend her finger backwards. 

This was Mom's first week back at work and you have struggled. You love Grandma so much, but you also don't do well with big changes and you can sense when they are about to happen. It was a rough week but I know from experience it will get better. I loved having two months to spend with you and your sister and missed you both so much while I was at work, but it was also nice to have a little break away to let someone else deal with your tantrums and mood swings for a change.

Now that it's hot, you love filling up the little pool Grandma P. bought you and playing out on the patio!

You love doing the dishes and I love how it keeps you entertained for at least an hour!

It usually lasts until you decide to purposely dump a large amount of water all over the floor and then Mom gets mad and the party ends.

Uncle Strom (You call him Uncle Song) came to visit and you loved him so much! At first you were shy, as usual, but soon the two of you became the best of friends!

Whenever you get bored and destructive, we bake! It keeps you entertained and usually the baby will sleep in the sling so we can talk and spend one on one time together.

Your favorite part of baking is eating the batter and then "clean up mess."

We took a trip out to Logandale to relax and get out of the city for a while. Of course that called for watering the garden in the buff!

Wherever you go, Buddy is always right beside you :).

You absolutely LOVE Daddy's jerseys! Every night before we go to bed you say, "oo'ball jerseys" and get super excited when Daddy pulls out a few from the closet for you to play with!

Your last Messy Days class involved shaving cream! At first you were scared to touch it but you warmed up quickly and had a lot of fun.

Someone got a big boy bed!

You were very excited at first but then you wanted to go back to the crib. We allowed that for a while until you learned how to climb out of it and it became too dangerous. You still struggle at night sometimes (not sure why) but you are doing really well! Our new routine consists of Mom laying in your bed with you and singing to you/stroking your face until you fall asleep. It is a little cramped but that gives us an opportunity to cuddle :).

It is so hard for you to understand being gentle. You want to hold her and maul her with hugs and kisses so badly but you don't yet understand that you are hurting her.

When Mom doesn't let you do dishes, you find the perfect time (when Mom is going to the restroom) to sneak up there and take matters into your own hands.....

Your best friend, Emmett, also goes to your cooking class! On our way out the door you guys spotted the gym and all the older kids playing basketball so of course you both had to run over and try to break in and join the fun!

Our neighborhood had a Summer Days Fest so Mommy walked you and sister up to the park to join in! The Elmo tattoo and lollipop were your favorite part!
