Christmas in Nevada 2010

We went home to Nevada for Christmas and it was so much fun! The days flew by way too fast and we were both sad when we had to come back to the cold and snowy weather of Utah. While we were there we played games, ate wayyyyy too much food, saw lots of family, went on walks in the wonderful warm weather and looked at the stars, had lots of parties, and spent a lot of time playing this new dancing game we got on the Wii. We ended up with some really great gifts, although opening them at 4:45 in the morning wasn't such an exciting event hahaha (thanks Briana). I ended up staying longer than Josh since I am out of school til January 10th, which was really nice. I loved getting some extra time to play with my sisters and family. We went to Valley of Fire and did some hiking and climbing. We also spent a day in Vegas eating buffet food and walking around the Bellagio while looking at their amazing flower display and water show. I couldn't get enough of how beautiful the weather was. It's something you just don't take for granted when you live in northern Utah where it is basically winter most of the year. Thanks everyone for such a great Christmas! We miss you guys already!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I just wanted to write and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The house is decorated, cards have been sent out, presents have been wrapped, and tomorrow is baking day! That is my favorite day of the year and sadly this is the first year I will be doing it without my Mom :(. Oh well, I guess it is time for me to step up and be the "mom" of the house ;). We will see how it goes lol. Josh and I had our Christmas a little early this year because we wanted it to be special and personal before we went to Nevada and were surrounded by family. It was a great moment that I will never forget. We both ended up with a lot of awesome gifts! I gave Josh: some clothes that look really Hot on him, TICKETS TO LINKIN PARK, Madden 11, and a U of U license plate cover thing. Josh gave me: a real pearl necklace with a matching pearl ring, a gift card to Sephora (so awesome), really cute black leather boots, a NEW CAMERA, and a pretty pair of hoop earrings. I stressed the Linkin Park tickets and the camera because those were both things that we really really wanted! Needless to say, we were both happy campers after that and the party wasn't over....we still had some Egg Nog to drink and some Christmas parties to attend :). 2010 has been a very good year for us and I'm excited to see what this new year will bring!

6 Months and Loving It!

I am two days late in announcing that Josh and I have made it to the 6 month mark!!! Marriage is so great and I don't know what I would do without my best friend and cuddle buddy. Josh is AMAZING in so many ways. He is always there to help no matter how tired or busy he is. He excels at taking care of me when I'm sick or just worn out from life. He is crazy and is always making life interesting with his "secret surprises" that he randomly springs on me when I'm not expecting it lol. But best of all, he is sweet, gentle, and the most decent man I have ever known. There have been very few (if any) men in my life who measure up to what Josh means to me. I can only hope that the next 6 months are just as great as they have been the first time around. Happy 6 month anniversary Joshua, I love you more than anything.

Capstone Placement!!

I am super excited to announce that I have been placed on the Infant Medical Surgical Unit for my final Capstone semester!!! I am so happy because that was my first choice and not very many people actually got their first choice, if any of their choices. I LOVE babies and I LOVE Primary Children's Hospital so I have a feeling next semester is going to be great! I just hope I got a good preceptor....that always kills it if they're bad.

I am so excited for Christmas break! Thanksgiving was so great and now I don't want to be back in school :(. I just want to buy presents, bake lots of goodies, and decorate a tree with my hubby while we drink egg-nog and cuddle on the Love Sac :). Sadly, I still have three weeks to go until that can happen. So until then, I will put up with all the homework and papers and daydream about all the fun stuff we're going to do once I'm free!!!

Some fun over Thanksgiving!

Lately

It's been quite a while since I've last posted (sorry Kendra lol) so there's a lot to catch up on. Last month was quite the adventure with fall break, my sister coming to visit, and Josh's birthday. We had so much fun while Sadie was up here and I'm not even going to begin to describe all the stuff we did because it would take FOREVER. But long story short, October was AMAZING and although I was sad to see it go, I was also excited because I really want school to be out. I can't wait for Thanksgiving in two weeks! I've been dying to go home and see my family and Josh is pretty stoked too. We always have so much fun when we go back to Nevada :). Speaking of Josh, he's almost done with school!!!! Just two more classes and he's got his Masters degree. We have been talking about him getting his Doctorate while he's at it. Why not, right? I think he's crazy because I can't imagine being in school another three years but it would totally be worth it as far as the jobs and money goes. I always dreamed of marrying a doctor..... ;). So we shall see about all of that. I guess we have to graduate first before we begin our next big adventure. I have been doing clinicals in Maternity at the University Hospital and it has been so great! I love holding babies and I've been learning a ton. This is an area that no one ever really learns about until they're the ones pregnant so it has been really fun getting to see what is in store for me when we decide to take that step....... and what I am NOT looking forward too as well. However, babies are the last thing on my mind right now. We want to travel and see the world while we're still young and that doesn't really work when you have a little one climbing all over you and demanding every second of your day. So after graduation, that's our next big adventure. TRAVEL!!! I can't wait! We have both worked so hard to get where we are today and I can't wait to just take time to enjoy life and reap the benefits of our hard labors. Until then, I have a presentation to give tomorrow, constant exams each week, and endless homework that seems stupid and useless. And Josh gets to work, and go to school, and work some more. Yay for hard work! Christmas please come soon......

3 months!.....a few days ago haha

Well it's official, our marriage has made it to the three month mark! Somehow it feels like so much longer than that. Why is that? Maybe it's because we were together for a year and a half before we actually got married...who knows...the important part is no one has killed anyone yet hahaha. We spent the day hiking Ensign Peak and soaking up the sun. I am sad to admit that we were both pretty out of shape which is actually very sad because it's not that bad of a hike. Oh well, I spend my days making everyone else healthy so when I come home I just don't feel like taking my own advice haha! Anyways, here's some pictures. Wish us luck on the next three!

Back to School

I've decided Pediatrics is my calling in life. I've had a lot of hospital experience and never have I felt so happy and confident as I did yesterday working in the ER at Primary Children's Hospital. Trust me, it wasn't the sick kids or the horrific scenes I walked into that made me happy... it was the feeling that I've finally found what I want to specialize in (perfect timing since I have to decide by tomorrow)!! Besides that, life has been as busy as it could possibly be. School takes up every second of my life and I feel like I have no social life whatsoever, but what's new? Luckily, I have an amazing husband who has been so supportive and loving. He doesn't ask for much which is perfect because lately I haven't had much to give! He's been pretty busy too with working full time and doubling up on his class load. He is getting his Masters degree in Business and he should be done by February (I am BEYOND jealous). This means that by the beginning of May, we will both be done with school and free to PLAY!! I can't imagine what that would feel like but it's gotta be good :).

Last Days of Summer

Sadly, summer is almost over.....probably the most depressing words I could say right now. My last year of nursing school is just a few days away and I'm not exactly excited about it. I love nursing and everything but the stress of school is the bane of my existence. So, to counter this, my little sister came up to Salt Lake to visit us during my last week of freedom! We had so much fun! We did shopping, talking, baseball game, picnics, movies, ice cream, and so much more! I really loved having her here and it seems so quiet now that she's gone. My parents came up on Monday and took us to a Concert (The Scorpions, Tessla, and Jackyl). It was total 80's rock and we LOVED IT! There was one guy there who probably liked it a little too much but it was hilarious so we didn't mind haha. The next day everyone left and the house seems so lonely now :(. Thanks for coming to visit y'all. We love you!!

Rockin' out at the Scorpions concert with the crazy parents!

Having Briana visit was a blast!

Ohhhh Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

Josh got free tickets to the Salt Lake Bees game from his work (thanks University of Phoenix) so we spent our Friday evening in the sunshine drinking Diet Coke and enjoying the game. Sadly, we lost 12-1 so it wasn't the greatest game to watch but we spent more time talking and laughing than actually watching the game so it really didn't matter much. There were fireworks afterwards, and I have to say, they were really awesome!! Since it was just a baseball game I was prepared for a pretty lame firework display but I was so so wrong. They were probably the best fireworks I had seen in quite a while. I love getting to spend every holiday with my new husband. Being married is so great!

Cars and Hicks.....Happy Birthday America!

This weekend was such a great one! Josh started it off right with golfing before work and then came back to take me out to dinner afterwards :). We spent Saturday at the Demolition Derby in Ogden and there are no words..... For one thing, didn't mullets go out of style at least twenty years ago?? The lady trying to hit on the guy behind her (who had 4 front teeth missing) while she held a beer in one hand and a baby in the other basically topped off our entertainment. Yes, Utah's finest were at that derby, and if you know Josh at all, you can imagine how much fun we had just by people watching.

(Oh, and the cars crashing into each other and lighting on fire were really cool too!) haha

On Sunday we went to the Park City Parade with Josh's dad and had some yummy BBQ before it started. We ended our amazing weekend with a long (3 hour) nap and a bunch of M&M's.

Could Life get any better?? I think not!

The Beginning of Forever

I've been told that the best way to keep everyone updated on our life is to have a blog so I'm going to give it a try. I can't promise that it will be interesting or even updated very often but it's worth a try!

Well, here we are! Married (finally) and beyond happy. The wedding was so beautiful and we are so thankful for everyone who helped and supported us. Next came the honeymoon.....cruise to the Bahamas.....need I say more??? Now we are back in Salt Lake and while Josh is at work, I've been setting up our home! I love being married and I love my husband more than anything. We have only been married a few weeks and it already feels like we've always been together. I can't wait to see what eternity has in store for us!
